Homebuyers who purchased luxury flats in Dwarka Sector 19B from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) can now breathe a sigh of relief. The DDA has announced an extension for the final payment deadline, moving it from August 31 to September 30. This extension applies to more than 1,800 premium flats, giving buyers more time to settle the last 25 percent of the payment.
Buyers’ Requests Lead to Deadline Extension
The DDA’s decision comes after multiple requests from buyers, many of whom needed extra time to arrange the final payment. Additionally, the DDA is still completing some finishing work on the flats, which contributed to the extension. “We needed more time to make the payment, and this extension has provided much-needed relief,” said one of the buyers.
Concerns Over Delayed Facilities
While the deadline extension has given buyers more breathing room, several homeowners have expressed concerns about the pace of work on-site. Many flats are still lacking essential amenities such as electricity, water connections, security guards, and proper access through the main gate. A buyer stated, “We were planning to move in by Dussehra or Diwali, but with no basic facilities, that looks unlikely.”
Uncertainty Over Possession
Some buyers fear that the delay in essential services could lead to further postponement in possession. “At the current pace, it seems we won’t be able to shift this year,” lamented one buyer. Many homeowners had made plans for griha pravesh (housewarming) during the festive season, but with ongoing delays, those hopes are fading.
DDA’s Ongoing Projects in Dwarka
The DDA Dwarka Housing Scheme 2024 also included an e-auction for 173 flats in Sectors 14, 16B, and 19B, offering middle-income group (MIG), high-income group (HIG), and penthouse apartments. Registrations began on August 21, adding more excitement for prospective homeowners in the area.
For now, while buyers appreciate the extra time for payments, many are eagerly awaiting the completion of basic infrastructure so they can finally call these luxury flats their home.
