A new storm has started inside the powerful political family of Bihar — the Paswan family. The issue is not just about politics this time, but about property, land, and ancestral homes. What started as a political rift between Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan and his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras has now reached the family property level. And this has made the already tense family situation even more complicated.
Political Rift Turns into Property War
Recently, Pashupati Kumar Paras gave a statement that surprised many. He said the family property should be divided — from their native village in Bihar to properties in Delhi. According to him, this issue is not just about land, but also about the politics happening inside the family. He claimed that the dispute has been created under a political conspiracy, but things would become clear soon.
Paras also mentioned his sister-in-law, Rajkumari Devi, the first wife of the late Ram Vilas Paswan. He said that she has been living with the family for over 50 years and is like a mother to him. According to him, earlier the three brothers of the Paswan family — Ram Vilas, Paras, and Ramchandra — lived like Ram, Lakshman, and Bharat. But now the unity seems to be breaking.
What Rajkumari Devi Wants from Chirag Paswan
Rajkumari Devi, who is the first wife of Ram Vilas Paswan and mother of Chirag Paswan, has taken the matter to the police. She has filed a complaint against her two sisters-in-law — Shobha Devi (wife of Paras) and Sunaina Devi (wife of late Ramchandra Paswan, mother of MP Prince Raj). She alleged that they entered her room on March 30 with drivers and guards and locked her out.
She now wants her son Chirag to come to their ancestral village Khagaria and take his rightful share of the ancestral property. According to her, the property belongs to all three brothers and their children should also get equal shares.
Family Property From Bihar Villages to Delhi Homes
Here’s what is known about the properties of the Paswan family:
- Shahbani Village (Khagaria District, Bihar):
The ancestral home of the family is located in this village under Aloli block. This house is built on around six katha land. It has six rooms and is two-storey. However, this land is not in the name of Ram Vilas Paswan but belongs to their grandfather. - Land Ownership in Villages:
- Around 50 bighas of land are in the name of Pashupati Paras in Shahbani and Darbhanga.
- The youngest brother, Ramchandra Paswan, has about 30 bighas in the same area.
- Another 60 bighas of land are present in Chatar village, also in Aloli block. These are linked to both Ramchandra and Ram Vilas Paswan’s side.
- Management Before LJP Split:
Rajkumari Devi used to look after these lands and property matters before the political break in the LJP. - Dispute Over Property Rights:
Local sources say that earlier Pashupati Paras had agreed to give a share in his property to Ram Vilas Paswan, but now things have changed. - Urban Properties (Hajipur, Patna, Delhi):
The family also owns houses in these cities. However, Paras has not revealed any detailed information about these urban assets.
What Chirag Paswan Said After Visiting Shahbani
After the complaint by his mother Rajkumari Devi, Chirag Paswan went to their native village Shahbani and met her. He looked visibly emotional during the visit. He said that his family was being insulted due to political and economic ambitions. He strongly opposed the treatment being given to his mother and said that such mental harassment was completely wrong.
Chirag made it clear that he is ready for property distribution, but it should be fair. He said that his uncle has not informed him about all the assets, and only after full information is shared, he would be in a position to discuss property division.
Allegations and Police Case
- Police Case Filed:
Rajkumari Devi filed a police complaint at Aloli police station. She accused Shobha Devi (Paras’s wife), Sunaina Devi (Ramchandra’s wife), their guard Amit Paswan, and two drivers of forcibly locking her room. - Ongoing Investigation:
The police have started investigating the matter. As this is a high-profile political family, the local administration is taking every step carefully.
Family Members Involved in Politics and Dispute
- Chirag Paswan:
Son of late Ram Vilas Paswan, current president of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). Recently gained attention by joining NDA ahead of the 2024 elections. - Pashupati Kumar Paras:
Brother of Ram Vilas Paswan, heading a separate faction (Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party). Union Minister of Food Processing Industries. - Prince Raj:
Son of late Ramchandra Paswan, also an MP earlier. Aligned with the faction led by Paras. - Rajkumari Devi:
First wife of Ram Vilas Paswan and mother of Chirag. She is now demanding justice and equal share for her son.
Political vs Personal: The Thin Line
This issue clearly shows how the line between political disagreements and personal issues can blur in powerful families. What started as a difference in party leadership after Ram Vilas Paswan’s death has now become a full-blown family and property dispute.
While Paras wants a division of property from village to Delhi, Chirag wants clarity and justice. Rajkumari Devi wants her son to get his share and claims she has been mistreated. The entire matter has not just legal and political sides, but also emotional and family angles.
How this story will develop is still unclear, but it has definitely caught public and political attention across Bihar and Delhi.
