Blusmart, one of India’s leading all-electric cab services, has suddenly stopped accepting bookings through its app. This unexpected move has left both customers and drivers confused and worried. Many users had money in their Blusmart wallets, and now they are asking how and when they will get it back.
Here’s everything you need to know about Blusmart’s current situation, what caused the suspension, and how you can get your wallet refund.
Booking Services Paused from April 16: Thousands Affected
Blusmart stopped taking new bookings from the evening of 16 April 2025. This sudden halt came without much explanation. Many users tried to book cabs using the Blusmart app but found the service unavailable. The company sent out an email stating that services are “temporarily suspended”, but did not provide a clear reason or timeline for resumption.
Blusmart operates in major cities like Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai and has earned a name for its premium electric taxi experience. The sudden pause has not only affected daily commuters but also left more than 10,000 driver-partners without income.
SEBI Action Behind the Scenes: What’s Really Happening?
Though Blusmart has not revealed the real reason for the suspension, reports suggest that the problem is linked to its parent company, Gensol Engineering, which is facing action from SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India).
SEBI has taken serious steps against Gensol Engineering and its top promoters Anmol Singh Jaggi and Puneet Singh Jaggi over allegations of fund misuse and poor governance. These issues are now believed to be impacting Blusmart’s operations.
₹262 Crore Not Accounted For: Loan Misuse Under the Scanner
According to SEBI’s investigation, Gensol Engineering took loans worth ₹977.75 crore from government bodies like the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) and the Power Finance Corporation (PFC). Out of this, ₹663.89 crore was meant specifically to buy 6,400 electric vehicles.
However, only 4,704 EVs have been purchased so far, and the rest of the amount—around ₹262.13 crore—remains unaccounted for. These EVs were supposed to be leased to Blusmart, revealing strong financial and operational links between the two companies.
Customers Share Panic on Social Media: Thousands Stuck in Wallets
Many users have taken to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration. Several said they have wallet balances ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹20,000 stuck in the Blusmart app. With the app not working, they are unsure whether their money will be returned or not.
A user wrote, “I had ₹6,000 in my Blusmart wallet. Now the app isn’t letting me book and I can’t even see my wallet balance.”
Another shared, “I used to trust Blusmart completely. Now I’m worried if I’ll ever get my ₹18,000 back.”
Blusmart’s Assurance on Refunds: Full Wallet Amount to Be Returned in 90 Days
In its communication to users, Blusmart has promised that all wallet balances will be refunded within 90 days, but only if the service does not resume within that period. The company said:
“We appreciate your support. If our services do not resume within 90 days, we will start the refund process of the amount in the wallet.”
This means customers may have to wait till mid-July 2025 to receive their refunds—unless the company restarts its services earlier.
How to Claim Your Refund from Blusmart Wallet
Here’s what customers should do if they want to claim a refund:
- Keep the app installed: If the app resumes, you may be able to access your wallet directly.
- Save your email confirmation: If you received a refund-related email from Blusmart, keep it safe for future communication.
- Wait for 90 days: The refund process will only begin if services do not return by then.
- Keep checking updates: Blusmart may share further instructions via email or app notifications.
- Contact support: Reach out to Blusmart customer care through official emails or their website for any clarification.
Impact on Drivers and Fleet Operations
Blusmart’s fleet includes over 8,500 electric vehicles, and the sudden halt has created a major crisis for the company’s 10,000+ driver-partners. These drivers depended on Blusmart for their daily earnings, and now many of them are stuck without alternative work options.
Some drivers have said they received no prior warning from the company and are still paying EMIs on the EVs they were driving. Many of these vehicles were leased directly from Gensol, deepening the financial impact on them.
Delhi Airport Issues Advisory to Passengers
Blusmart is also a regular cab service provider at Delhi Airport, and the airport authorities have released an official advisory to passengers. The statement confirmed that Blusmart services are temporarily suspended and asked passengers to use other transport options until further notice.
This move clearly shows the seriousness of the situation, as the airport has rarely issued such advisories for private taxi operators.
Is This the End for Blusmart or a Temporary Setback?
While the company has not announced a shutdown, the current signs suggest a major financial and operational crisis. The SEBI action, loan misuse allegations, and the freezing of cab services all point to deep-rooted issues.
Blusmart’s future may depend on how quickly the promoters resolve their legal troubles, bring transparency to their financial dealings, and regain customer trust. For now, users are advised to wait for the 90-day period and avoid loading any more money into the app.
