For pensioners, submitting the Jeevan Pramaan Patra (Life Certificate) is an essential process to ensure that their pension continues without any interruptions. Previously, this required visiting the bank branch or a Common Service Center (CSC) physically, but now, pensioners can complete the process from the comfort of their homes. Thanks to advancements in technology, they can use video call services to submit their life certificate online. In this post, we explain how to easily submit your Jeevan Pramaan Patra using the State Bank of India’s (SBI) video call service and other available options.

    What is Jeevan Pramaan?

Introduced by the Government of India in 2014, Jeevan Pramaan is an Aadhaar-based digital life certificate for senior citizens. It allows pensioners to prove their existence without the need to be physically present at the bank. The Jeevan Pramaan Patra must be submitted every year between October 1 and November 30 to ensure the continued release of pension funds.

    New Initiative by Canara Bank

According to Canara Bank’s recent social media post, they have introduced a video call service for Jeevan Pramaan, making it easier for pensioners to submit their life certificates from home. While SBI was the first to launch the video Jeevan Pramaan service, other banks like Canara Bank are also adopting this convenient method.

Here’s everything you need to know to submit your life certificate from home using video calls.

How to Submit Jeevan Pramaan Patra via Video Call

Step 1: Ensure Aadhaar and Pension Account Are Linked

Before starting the process, ensure that your pension account is linked to your Aadhaar. The digital life certificate can only be authenticated if these two are connected. This is a basic requirement for all pensioners who wish to use the video call service.

Step 2: Device and Internet Requirements

To submit your life certificate via video call, you’ll need a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or PC with a stable internet connection, a webcam, and headphones. Additionally, good lighting is necessary to ensure clear video capture.

Step 3: Visit the Pension Seva Website or App

For SBI pensioners, follow these steps:

    1. Visit the Pension Seva website and click on the ‘VideoLC’ link at the top of the page. Alternatively, you can download the Pension Seva Mobile App and tap on the ‘Video Life Certificate’ option.
    2. Enter your pension account number and the captcha code (if using the website). Check the box to authorize the bank to use your Aadhaar data for video life certification.

    Step 4: OTP Verification

Once you submit your details, an OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. Enter this OTP to verify your identity.

    Step 5: Self-Declaration

After successful OTP verification, you will be required to complete a self-declaration form. Tick the relevant boxes and click on ‘Proceed’ to continue. You will then be directed to the video life certificate landing page.

Step 6: Book Your Video Call Appointment

On the next screen, select ‘Schedule Call’ and choose a convenient date and time slot for your video call. Confirm your appointment by clicking the ‘Schedule’ button. Once booked, you will receive a confirmation message along with an SMS and email notification with the appointment details.

Step 7: Joining the Video Call

Pensioners can join the video call 5 minutes before the scheduled time by following the link provided in the SMS or email. If needed, the appointment can be rescheduled at your convenience.

    Step 8: Verification Process

During the video call, the pensioner will have to complete the following steps:

    • Verification Code: You will be asked to read out a verification code shown on the screen.
    • Show PAN Card: Hold up your PAN card to the camera for verification.
    • Face Recognition: The pensioner will then be requested to adjust the camera so that their face can be clearly seen by the bank official.

The bank official will verify your PAN and complete the verification process.

    Step 9: Confirmation and Completion

Once the verification is complete, the pensioner will receive a message stating that the session has ended and their Jeevan Pramaan Patra has been successfully recorded. You will also receive an SMS confirmation of the status on your registered mobile number.

Other Ways to Submit Jeevan Pramaan Patra

Apart from video call services, pensioners can also submit their life certificate through the following methods:

    • Common Service Centers (CSC): You can visit any nearby CSC to submit the certificate.
    • Pension Disbursing Bank Branches: Most banks offer this service at their local branches.
    • Post Offices: Some post offices provide Jeevan Pramaan submission services.
    • Public Service Centers: Government offices designated to handle pension-related services.

Benefits of Submitting Jeevan Pramaan via Video Call

The video call method offers significant benefits to pensioners, especially for those who may find it difficult to visit the bank in person. Key advantages include:

    • Convenience: Submit your life certificate from home, without stepping out.
    • Time-Saving: Avoid waiting in long queues at banks or government offices.
    • Simple Process: With a smartphone or laptop, the entire process can be completed in under 15 minutes.
