Pensioners in India can now breathe a sigh of relief as the traditional process of submitting life certificates has gone digital, eliminating the need to visit banks or post offices. The Digital Life Certificate, also known as Jeevan Pramaan, is a convenient and time-saving solution that ensures pensioners receive their pensions without hassle. This service benefits central and state government pensioners and those from various government organizations.

Why is a Life Certificate Important for Pensioners?

Every November, pensioners are required to submit a life certificate to continue receiving their pension in their bank accounts. In the past, this meant visiting banks, post offices, or treasury offices, which could be time-consuming and difficult, especially for elderly or ailing pensioners. The Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) offers a convenient alternative, allowing pensioners to submit their life certificates online from the comfort of their homes.

Different Ways to Submit a Digital Life Certificate

    1. Citizen Service Centers (CSCs): Pensioners can visit any CSC located across India to submit their life certificates in person. These centers are equipped to handle biometric submissions.
    2. Jeevan Pramaan Portal: This portal allows pensioners to create and submit their digital life certificates online using a fingerprint reader. Pensioners can access the portal from any location with an internet connection.
    3. Jeevan Pramaan Mobile App: By downloading the Jeevan Pramaan mobile app, pensioners can submit their life certificates without leaving home. A fingerprint scanner connected to a mobile device is needed for authentication.
    4. Pension Disbursing Agencies (PDAs): Pensioners can still submit life certificates at pension disbursing agencies like banks, post offices, or treasury offices if they prefer. This is an option for those who may not be comfortable with digital methods.
    5. Doorstep Services for Senior Pensioners: For pensioners aged 70 and above or those with mobility issues, some public sector banks offer doorstep banking services. Pensioners can submit their life certificates without leaving home, with a bank representative visiting to complete the process.
    6. Face Authentication Technology: This newer method allows pensioners to submit life certificates using their smartphones. By downloading the Aadhaar Face RD app and Jeevan Pramaan app, they can authenticate their identity with a facial scan, eliminating the need for fingerprint readers.
    7. India Post Payments Bank (IPPB): Pensioners can use the India Post ‘Doorstep Service by Postman’ to submit their digital life certificates. By using the Postinfo app, pensioners can book the service and have a postman visit their home to assist with the submission.

Submitting the Life Certificate – A Simple Process

Once the pensioner submits their life certificate using any of the methods mentioned, it is instantly uploaded to the relevant government database. This ensures that the pension continues to be credited to the pensioner’s account without any delay or interruption.

With multiple ways to submit a digital life certificate, pensioners now have access to a simple, efficient, and hassle-free process that ensures they can manage their pension from the comfort of their own homes.
