The Aadhaar card has become an essential document for almost every major task in India, from identity verification to financial transactions. Issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the Aadhaar card links your identity to various services and requires a registered mobile number to receive one-time passwords (OTPs) for verification purposes. However, many people often forget which mobile number they linked to their Aadhaar, especially if they have multiple numbers.

If you’re in this situation, don’t worry. There’s an easy way to check which number is linked to your Aadhaar without any hassle, right from the comfort of your home.

Why It’s Important to Keep Your Mobile Number Updated

Linking a mobile number to your Aadhaar card is crucial for many services, whether government or private. Most online services and applications now send OTPs to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar for secure verification. If your number has changed and hasn’t been updated, you may miss out on important services.

It’s especially important to update your mobile number when it changes. If you’re unsure which number is linked to your Aadhaar, UIDAI offers a simple process to find out.

Steps to Check the Mobile Number Linked to Aadhaar from Home

Follow these easy steps to check the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card online:

    1. Visit the UIDAI Website: Go to the official UIDAI website: https://uidai.gov.in.
    2. Navigate to the ‘My Aadhaar’ Section: On the homepage, click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ section.
    3. Access Aadhaar Services: Under the ‘My Aadhaar’ menu, select the ‘Aadhaar Services’ option.
    4. Select ‘Verify an Aadhaar Number’: From the Aadhaar Services menu, click on ‘Verify an Aadhaar Number’.
    5. Enter Your Aadhaar Details: You will be prompted to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
    6. Captcha Verification: Enter the displayed captcha code accurately.
    7. Click ‘Proceed to Verify’: Once you’ve entered the required details, click on ‘Proceed to Verify’.

After following these steps, the last three digits of the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar will be displayed on the screen. If no number is linked, you will be notified that no mobile number is associated with your Aadhaar.

What to Do If Your Mobile Number Is Not Linked or Needs Updating

If no mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar, or you wish to update your number, you will need to visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center or update it online via the UIDAI website. Keeping your mobile number updated ensures that you can easily access services like OTP verifications and notifications tied to your Aadhaar.

This process is simple and can save you a lot of time and effort when trying to access government and private services that require OTP-based verification.
