The Haryana government is taking strict action against individuals who are wrongly benefiting from government schemes using fake Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration cards. Thousands of names have already been removed from the BPL list, and now, those who continue to misuse the benefits may face legal consequences, including an FIR.

Government’s Strict Action Against Fake BPL Card Holders

Haryana has a total of approximately 51.96 lakh BPL families. However, after a thorough verification process, authorities have removed 1,609 names from the list. The government has started sending SMS alerts to people, urging them to update their family income details on the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) portal. Those found falsely availing benefits may face strict action after April 20. If your income exceeds the eligibility criteria, it is advised to update your details immediately to avoid legal trouble.

Are You Wrongly Holding a BPL Card? Check These Criteria

If your family meets any of the conditions below, you might not be eligible for a BPL card anymore:

    • Your family’s annual income exceeds Rs.1,80,000.
    • Any member of your family owns a car or tractor.
    • Someone in your family has a government job.
    • Any family member is receiving government pension.

How to Update Your Income Details on the PPP Portal

The government has made it mandatory for all BPL cardholders to update their income details on the ‘Meri Parivar’ portal. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to update your information:

    Step 1: Access the Portal

    • Visit the ‘Meri Parivar’ portal.
    • Log in using your PPP ID and OTP.
    • Your family details will be displayed, including your registered annual income.
    • If the displayed income is incorrect, you need to update it.

Step 2: Correct Your Income Details

    • Click on the Correction Tab at the top of the page.
    • Select Income under the ‘Grievance Field’.
    • Choose the family member whose income details need correction.
    • Enter the correct annual income of the family.
    • Upload supporting documents and submit your request.

    Documents Required for Income Update

To update your income details, you may need to provide the following documents:

    • Income certificate
    • Bank statement (last one year)
    • Bank account details
    • Aadhaar card

Find Out If You Are Benefiting from Government Schemes

If you want to check whether you are receiving benefits from any government scheme, follow these steps:

    • Log in to the PPP portal.
    • Click on the ‘Availed Scheme’ tab.
    • A detailed list of schemes you are benefiting from will be displayed.

How to Remove Your Name from the BPL List

If your financial situation has improved and you wish to voluntarily remove your name from the BPL list, follow these steps:

    • Visit the nearest Food and Supply Department office and apply for name removal.
    • An online application option is also available, but the portal is currently inactive.

The Haryana government’s move aims to ensure that only deserving families receive BPL benefits. If you are holding a BPL card despite being financially stable, it is advisable to update your details immediately. Failure to do so may lead to legal complications, including the possibility of an FIR.
