India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has rolled out a new service designed to simplify Aadhaar-related processes, particularly for residents in rural and remote regions. This new service brings Aadhaar updates and child enrollment right to your doorstep, significantly reducing the need to visit a bank or post office.
IPPB, in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), has introduced the Child Enrollment Lite Client (CELC) application. This is an Android-based app created to make child Aadhaar registration easier, especially for those under 5 years old. With this new facility, people living in rural or hard-to-reach areas will benefit greatly as services can now be accessed without having to travel long distances.
Key Features of the CELC App
Under the Child Enrollment Policy of UIDAI, children below the age of 5 are not required to provide biometric data like fingerprints or iris scans. Instead, only the child’s photograph and a few demographic details are needed, and parents can authenticate the process using their own biometrics.
This process is made even more efficient with the CELC app, as it reduces the need for in-person visits to official centers. The only requirement is that a trained IPPB postman or Gramin Dak Sevak arrives at your doorstep equipped with a smartphone and a biometric device to complete the process. The charge for using this service is a nominal Rs 50.
Benefits for Rural and Remote Citizens
One of the most significant advantages of this service is its accessibility to those in rural or remote areas where banking and Aadhaar services are often scarce. By linking or updating mobile numbers with Aadhaar through this doorstep service, citizens will be able to access a range of government benefits more easily. Whether it’s subsidies being transferred directly to a bank account, or Aadhaar-based verification for mobile SIMs, bank accounts, and ration cards, this initiative is set to make a real difference.
A Phased Rollout for Nationwide Coverage
IPPB has launched this service across its 650 branches and plans to expand it further. With over 1,36,000 access points and more than 2 lakh postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks across the country, the service is gradually becoming available in all corners of India. Each postman will be equipped with a smartphone and a biometric device, allowing them to complete the Aadhaar update or child enrollment quickly and efficiently right at the customer’s doorstep.
Why This Service Matters
In today’s digital age, Aadhaar has become essential for accessing numerous services and schemes provided by the Indian government. By linking Aadhaar with a mobile number, citizens can make use of OTP-based verifications for everything from PAN card updates to ITR filings. The government’s subsidies are also directly transferred to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, making it a crucial element for accessing financial benefits.
For those living in areas where visiting a bank or post office is difficult, this doorstep service removes significant barriers. The service charge of Rs 50 is affordable, especially considering the convenience and time saved by avoiding long trips to the nearest service center.
How to Access the Service
If you’re interested in taking advantage of this service, all you need to do is contact your local post office or get in touch with the nearest postman. Whether you need to register your child for Aadhaar, update your mobile number, or manage any other Aadhaar-related task, IPPB’s doorstep service makes it easier than ever.
