State Bank of India (SBI) debit cardholders can enjoy the convenience of contactless payments. Without needing to enter a PIN, customers can make payments of up to ₹5000 by simply tapping their card on the machine. If you’re facing issues making contactless payments with your SBI debit card, it might not be activated for this feature yet. The good news is, that you can easily enable it through SBI’s internet banking platform. Here’s how.

    What is SBI Contactless Payment?

With SBI contactless debit cards, payments can be made at any merchant by just tapping the card on the Point of Sale (POS) terminal. This eliminates the need to swipe or insert the card. SBI offers this feature on their RuPay, MasterCard, and Visa variants of international debit cards. Contactless payments are safe and secure as the cards are equipped with an EMV chip.

    • Quick transactions at fast-food outlets, petrol stations, and cinemas.
    • Earn reward points on every purchase made through contactless payments.

Step-by-Step Guide to Enable Contactless Payments on SBI Debit Cards

    1. Visit the onlinesbi.sbi website.
    2. Log in using your username and password.
    3. On the home page, go to the e-Services section and click on Debit Card Services.
    4. Select ATM cum Debit Card from the options.
    5. Choose ATM card limited channel usage change.
    6. Pick your account number and then select your card number.
    7. In the usage type section, choose NFC (Near Field Communication) usage.
    8. Verify with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
    9. After successful validation, a confirmation message will appear, and your card will be ready for contactless transactions.
