The process of submitting a life certificate for pensioners has become more convenient with the introduction of the Digital Life Certificate initiative. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 10th November 2014, this scheme allows retired employees to submit their life certificates digitally, ensuring their pension continues without hassle. The government has made it even easier for pensioners to submit these certificates from the comfort of their homes using their mobile phones.
EPFO’s Step-by-Step Guide to Submit Digital Life Certificate
The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has outlined the process for submitting a Digital Life Certificate. - Download the Jeevan Pramaan Face App and Aadhaar Face RD application from the Google Play Store.
- Scan your face using the apps and fill in the required personal details.
- Take a photo using your front camera.
- Submit all the information through the app.
Once completed, your life certificate will be submitted without the need to visit a bank or post office, making the process quick and effortless.
Rising Popularity of Digital Life Certificate
According to government data, there are approximately 78 lakh pensioners in India. More than 6.6 lakh pensioners submitted their life certificates digitally in the financial year 2023-24. This is a significant increase compared to 2.1 lakh submissions in 2022-23, showing a growth of over 200% year-on-year.
For those not comfortable with digital methods, pensioners can still submit their life certificate at Common Service Centers or any Government Office.
